Funding

The Wollongong West Street Centre is a not-for-profit service with a charitable status whose primary funding comes from the Department of Communities and Justice. We are funded through the NSW Government to provide free counselling and support services for children, young people and women (who have the care of children under the age of 18), who have experienced childhood sexual assault. We through one off community grants to enhance our service in specific areas, such as funding activities for our ‘Catch-up’ women’s support group, children’s therapeutic playground and trauma-sensitive yoga program.

In recent times we have also received money through the NDIS scheme when providing counselling services to people who have NDIS funding, who have experienced childhood sexual abuse but do not fit our DCJ funding criteria.

We are also able to receive donations and as a recognised charity our donations are tax deductible
